Blaine’s Riley Tufte Named Minnesota Mr. Hockey

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Blaine forward Riley Tufte has been named Minnesota’s Mr. Hockey.

The annual award goes to the state’s top senior high school boys’ hockey player. The 32nd annual Mr. Hockey Award was presented to Tufte on Sunday.

Tufte is considered a top NHL draft prospect. The 6-foot-5 winger scored 49 goals and had 36 assists this season.

St. Cloud Apollo’s Nick Althaus won the Frank Brimsek Award, given to Minnesota’s top senior goaltender.

Chris Olson of Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato and Pat O’Leary of Class 2A state champion Wayzata received the John Mariucci Award given to the state’s high school hockey coaches of the year.
